Information for volunteers

We are a friendly group of volunteers who care for the Grassland Garden and we’d love to have you join us! You don’t need to have any previous experience with gardening to join in, and everyone is welcome. Garden work days usually consist of weeding and spreading mulch. In the winter, we do some pruning and planting. We also spend time enjoying the garden and appreciating all the critters that call the garden home.

Work day schedule: We have monthly work days every third Saturday from 9-11am. From March through October, we have additional weekly work days on Thursday evenings. The garden gets some shade in the evenings and cools down nicely. See the calendar below for our full schedule.

What to bring: Bring some water and your favorite weeding tools. If you don’t have any gardening tools, that’s okay! We have spare gardening gloves, kneeling pads, and weeding tools that you can use. On our monthly Saturday work days, we provide water and snacks (but please bring your own water bottle).

Inclement weather: If it is forecasted to rain, you can assume the work day is canceled.
